Release Notes

The table below lists the latest releases and the respective features/improvements to Axinom Encoding.

2.35.24171.1 (June 20, 2024)​

  • Implemented a feature to create output with only audio or video (currently API-only).
  • Fixed the issue when "Archiving": "Split" storing the main manifest and playlist in a folder named 'packaged'.
  • Fixed the cause for possible job failure when the subtitle has a longer duration than the video.

  • Fixed non-'main' CPIX thumbprints might not work for some customers after the previous Encoding release.

2.33.24074.3 (March 25, 2024)​

  • Implemented visible watermarking. Watermarking can now be encoded into the videos! PNG, JPEG and GIF images are supported. Check the API documentation in our Portal for instructions on how.
  • Improved the Detection of incorrect subtitle timestamps and error messages regarding them have been made more clear.
  • Improved HLG color data transfer to be more reliable when using per-scene encoding.
  • Fixed issues where the job might fail with a "Concurrent reads are not allowed" error.

  • Implemented a flag for avoiding negative timestamps in the output, avoiding potential job failure.
  • Fixed an intermittent issue where a job might fail with "Internal server error. The administrator has been notified about this."
  • Fixed an issue when cancelling a job, the event says "Error when processing the media. Please ensure that the source media is valid. Feel free to contact our support if necessary."

  • Added an option to change the video sync method of our video encoder. Usually it should not be necessary to change this, but it is one option to try if your output videos have visual problems such as 'floating' or 'jerkiness' of the image.

  • Possibility to search for close-by resolutions divisible by 16, 8, or 4. Introduced SearchForOptimalNearbyResolutions as a property to enable this feature.
  • Possibility to encode a non-square Pixel Aspect Ratio(PAR) video into a 1:1 pixel aspect ratio video (which then has a different resolution than the input.) Introduced ForcePixelAspectRatioTo1 as a property to enable this feature.
  • Possibility to submit and produce videos in any aspect ratio instead of only the most common ones. Introduced ForceAspectRatioToStandard as a property to enable this feature.
  • If there are pre-validation errors, the HTTP 400 response (for the job request) now lists all the errors and formats them as JSON objects.

Public Test Vectors v10 (November 04, 2021)​

  • Produced test vectors using Axinom Encoding.
  • H265 and MPEG-2 TS streams were added.
  • All streams are available with PlayReady, Widevine and FairPlay DRM (where compatible), and have three variants: single-key, multi-key and clear.
  • Each stream contains multiple video quality levels from 288p to 1080p in 16:9 aspect ratio, has three audio tracks and three text tracks.

2.6.21264.1 (October 6, 2021)​

  • Packaging-only mode: if you have the video files already encoded in H.264/H.265 you can run them through Axinom Encoding to package into DASH/HLS/CMAF, add audio-streams and subtitles and protect with DRM. Skipping encoding makes the process much faster.
